Drake 8-Year Reign On Billboard Comes To An End

Drake reigned over Billboard Hot 100 chart for almost a decade but

that has come to an end.

For the first time in 8 years, the Toronto rapper does not have a song

on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. That doesn’t mean that he isn’t still

visible on other charts on Billboard since his latest album More Life is

currently at number thirteen on the Billboard 200 chart. Now every

OVO fan is wondering what’s happening with Drizzy this year. No

need to panic because he is already working on his next album.

Perhaps his latest album didn’t have the strength of Views or perhaps

there is much more competition from other big names artists like

Kendrick Lamar and JAY-Z who both released blockbuster rap albums

this year. On Tuesday, Chart Data announced on their Twitter page

that for the first time since making his musical debut on May 23,

2009, Drake does not have a song on the Hot 100 chart. That’s a

whopping 430 weeks on the chart, but that winning streak has come

to an end this week.

The first time Drake graced the chart was with his debut single “Best I

Ever Had” which went on to earn a Grammy nomination for the OVO

rapper. Since then, Drake has called the chart his second him, he

literally lives there. Over the past few years, the Young Money rapper

has come under criticism for allegedly using a ghostwriter to write

his songs , thanks to Meek Mill. But that never stopped him from

stamping his authority on the most recognized chart on the planet.

Last year Drake had the biggest song, “One Dance ,” and the biggest

album, Views, on the planet. “One Dance” spent ten non-consecutive

weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart last year and

received over a billion streams on Spotify alone. His landmark album

Views spent a whopping thirteen non-consecutive weeks at the top of

the Billboard 200 album chart last year. The project also became the

first album to earn a billion streams on Apple Music.

Drake Producer OVO40 Praises Jamaica’s Dancehall Culture

Jamaican celebrated it’s 55th Independence Day on August 6th and

Drake ‘s main producer and business partner Noah “40” Shebib

praises the island’s dancehall culture.

40, who is of Lebanese/Canadian descent, grew up on reggae/

dancehall music and that has heavily influenced his work over the

years as seen in a lot of Drake’s biggest records like “One Dance”

and “Controlla.” In fact, the entire Views album was built on a

dancehall foundation. As part of Jamaica’s 55th celebration, the

producer thanked the island for its influential culture.

“Thank you Jamaica you have given me so much,” Noah “40” Shebib

wrote. “My brothers, my best friend of 28 years, his brother who is

also like my brother cause I don’t have a real one, my other mother,

my favourite food (next to Lebanese obviously). The coffee, the

culture, the dance, the talks and of course the sound. The vibes, the

feelings, the cadence the timing, the rawness, the meaning the

influence the guidance and the politics!!!! BASS! All this bass today,

we can thank Jamaica for that. Gadget!!! Rasss the ting gave me Gaj

u know! My mentor and teacher. The man who makes all our

SOUNDS HEAVY! Gave us Sly, Robby, Beres, Peter, Bob, like what?!

DANCEHALL?! These are real tangible influences in my life and my

music and who I am as a man in my heart. One of my favourite

places on earth, no question. There’s no where as real. Literally made

me who I am thousands of miles away in a cold city in Canada

called Toronto. If that’s not a testament to the power and influence

of that culture then I don’t know what is. Blessings on your

Independence day and guidance and protection forever.”

Drake himself is also a huge fan of dancehall music and is close

friends with Popcaan who he also signed to OVO Records.

Drake Opens Second OVO Flagship Store In Toronto Plus Shoot “Gyalchester” Video

Drake opens a second OVO flagship store in his hometown Toronto

and also shoot the music video for his More Life single “Gyalchester”

at the same location.

The 6 God has been having another phenomenal year in hip hop with

a hugely successful tour and dropping one of the biggest albums this

year, More Life , which debuts at the top of the Billboard 200 chart.

Now it’s time for him to get some business done. The new flagship

store was opened at the Yorkdale Mall in Toronto on Friday.

Thousands of fans turned out for the grand opening and some fans

say that they are there from around 5 a.m.

The Yorkdale Mall is the fourth largest mall in Canada and is located

approximately 10 miles from where Drake grew up in Forest Hill.

Yorkdale publicist Adrienne Simic says over 1000 people had lined up

from as early as 5:30 a.m. and more people converged on the mall

when it opened at 9 a.m. Drake and his team already have stores in

New York City, Los Angeles, and London. There are plans to open

more stores in more major cities as the brand grows in popularity.

Drake is in Toronto for his annual OVO Festival and took the

opportunity to shoot the video for “Gyalchester.” Some of the artists

who will be performing at this year’s OVO Fest includes Majid Jordan,

PARTYNEXTDOOR, Kranium, Dvsn, Roywood, Charly Black, Bunji

Garlin, and Drake himself.

Meek Mill Says Nicki Minaj Breakup Is A Loss But Drake Beef Is A Win

Two of the main persons that came up when Meek Mill does any

interview about his new album Wins & Losses are Nicki Minaj and

Drake .

Back in 2015, Meek Mill famous started a beef with Drake on Twitter

that spawned the now classic diss record “Back To Back” from

Drake. An overwhelming amount of hip hop fans thinks that the Philly

rapper took a big L in that beef. Fast forward to December 2016,

Meek Mill had a bitter breakup with Nicki Minaj and again a lot of

folks in hip hop thinks that he took another L, and now he is agreeing

with that assessment, but not the Drake one.

Speaking with Power 99, Meek said that it was a win for him when he

beefed with Drake. His argument is that the beef cause a lot of

people to leave from around him and now he realized that those

people needed to go, so he is happy that they were removed. “It’s

always a win,” Meek said. “There was a lot of people around me

before that. They thought it slowed down a little bit. I’m spending

cake on these dudes left and right. We going 5-star everything.

Foreign everything. The minute it looked like it slowed down, I was in

the studio with 3-4 people. Had to hustle and get it back, so I needed

to remove them. I won. It made me into a monster. They put my

back against the wall…It helped me turn into the next level. I was too

comfortable. I had Nicki.”

Regarding the Nicki Minaj breakup, Meek Mill says that was a loss

because he loved her and has always wanted her his whole life.

“Breaking up with anybody you love is a loss,” he added. Meek Mill

also spoke about his recent feud with Miami rapper Trick Daddy who

went on Instagram and pretty much bans the Philly rapper from going

back to Miami, a place he called his city.

Drake Immortalized Lil Wayne With A Tattoo On His Arm

Drake pays homage to Lil Wayne in a major way

when he gets a full tattoo of the Young Money

rapper on his arm.

Lil Wayne is credited as the man who brought

Drake and Nicki Minaj to the forefront of hip hop

when he signed them to Young Money/Cash

Money Records back in 2009. Both rappers have

since gone on to become two of the biggest

artists on the planet with millions of records sold

worldwide. Drake often shows Weezy his

appreciation with lavish gifts and a lot of praises

on stage, but this is his biggest gesture yet.

The 6 God debut the new Lil Wayne tattoo on his

left arm last night on his Instagram page. He

also has a Hotskull Unruly tattoo on the same

arm as an homage to his close friend Popcaan.

Directly above the Lil Wayne tat is a Drakkar

Noir bottle tattoo. The photo of Drake was taken

at his Houston Appreciation Week celebration in

Houston. As part of the celebration, he hosted a

retirement party for three of his favorite strippers

last weekend.

Drake also has a tattoo of Aaliyah and two tats

of Sade that he got while on tour in Europe

earlier this year.

Drake Retires Three Of His Favorite Strippers In Houston

Drake hosted a grand retirement party for three

of his favorite strippers in Houston over the

weekend.

The 6 God didn’t just throw a lavish party for Lira

Galore, Miracle Watts, and Maliah Michel, he also

showered them with some expensive gifts from

Louis Vuitton. Drake has been hosting a lot of big

events this year including the annual NBA

Awards and now this party for these three ladies

as part of his Houston Appreciation Week.

In the below video you can see Watts, Galore,

and Michel’s jerseys hanging up in the club as

Drake retires them with a bang. At least one of

these ladies say they will not retire anytime

soon. Maliah took to her social media pages to

respond to the news telling her fans that no man

can tell her when to retire. “Contrary to “social

media news” no man can retire me. I’m shaking

this azz into a wheel chair. Maliah will retire

Maliah #MaliahMondays,” she said.

“Look, I don’t dance now, I make Money moves,”

Miracle Watts wrote on Instagram. “Thanks @

champagnepapi for helping me gracefully ‘HANG

UP MY JERSEY’ OFFICIALLY! 3 years ago, I

made a decision to leave the pole in my past, & I

never looked back. I’m blessed and thankful to

be a part. #MotivateTheStrippers #

HoustonMade.”

Meek Mill Says “Wins & Losses” Is Not About Drake & Nicki Minaj Beef

Meek Mill says his new album Wins & Losses

has nothing to do with his beef with Drake and

Nicki Minaj .

The album title gave the impression that Meek

Mill is addressing the Ls he received from the

feud with Drake and his bitter split with Nicki

Minaj , but the Philly MC is saying that the

project has nothing to do with those two

incidents nor those individuals. The

Dreamchasers rapper sat down for a candid

interview with DJ Holiday in Atlanta yesterday

where he opened up about a number of topics

including his recent encounter with Safaree

Samuels, the meaning of the album title and

more.

“I’m letting the people know how I feel right

now,” Meek Mill said(via XXL). “I just wanted to

give people a real perspective of my life, what

we call wins and what we call losses. I lost my

case, we lost Lil Snupe, Chino lost his brother.

Where we come from, that’s a loss.” Meek also

said that the Ls that folks are talking about on

social media like his beef with Drake is not the

Ls that he is rapping about on the album.

“When you talk L’s and W’s, you get an L, that

mean you got life in jail,” he added. “It’s critical,

it ain’t what they talking about, so I wanted to

give my perspective on it, let people know what

I’ve been through.” Pretty much Meek Mill is

sounding like he is completely over the Drake

beef and the Nicki Minaj breakup and feels like

rapping about his late affiliate Lil Snupe is much

more important that addressing those old feuds.

He also hinted that he would be addressing his

legal troubles on the album. You can remember

last year he served time on house arrest for

probation violation.

Leading up to the album release tonight, Meek

Mill has released chapters one through to three

of the Wins And Losses Movie on YouTube. Each

chapter tells a different story inspired by true

events.

Drake Wishes Popcaan A Happy 29th Birthday “Unruly till I’m Dead”

Drake says “Unruly till I’m dead.” The 6 God took

timeout to wish Popcaan a happy 29th birthday

today.

Popcaan celebrates his birthday on July 19 and a

ton of his dancehall and hip hop friends took

timeout of their busy schedule to wish the Unruly

Boss deejay a happy birthday. Drake, Shaggy,

Sizzla Kalonji, Chi Ching Ching, NotNice and

more artists all honor the dancehall hitmaker.

“Happy earthstrong to the general and the boss.

Unruly till I’m. More life @popcaanmusic,” Drake

wrote.

Popcaan is also celebrating some good news

today of getting back his U.S. visa and gearing

up for his first appearance on American soil in

August for the Red Bull Culture Clash. Last year,

the “Party Shot” deejay helped his team Mixpak

win the title and this year he is bringing his own

team to the competition where he is the hot

favorite.

“Happy Birthday to mi Likkle Bredda’ @

popcaanmusic aka the unruly boss … and

congratulations!!!! This is not just a win for poppi

but a win for dance hall!!! #VisaFreeUp #

TekItGlobal,” Shaggy wrote on Instagram.

Is Drake Dating The Weeknd’s Ex-Girlfriend Bella Hadid

Could Drake be dating The Weeknd ‘s ex-girlfriend

Bella Hadid.

Drake maybe already moving on from the last

female he was linked to but if this bit of tea is

true then he might be in for some beef with his

XO brother The Weeknd. The 6 God always

somehow finds himself entangled in some rumor

about his love life and this year he has been

especially very active. Just last week he was

spotted with a mystery girl having dinner at one

of his favorite spots in West Hollywood.

This week the Toronto rap star is linked to

supermodel Bella Hadid who very recently was

dating The Weekend until they broke up. The

“ Starboy ” singer has since moved on with Selena

Gomez but this is the first time since their split

that Bella is being linked to another artist.

Multiple reports confirmed on Wednesday that

Drake and Bella were spotted together at The

Nice Guy in Los Angeles.

Drake reportedly arrived at the venue at around

12:45 AM and the model arrived at around 1:20

AM. There were no reports on whether or not

they were together inside the club but things

became pretty clear when they both left in

Drake’s SUV at around 4 AM. They both left

through separate exits but went into the same

SUV according to paparazzi. Maybe she is just

one of Drake’s beautiful friends that he is just

hanging out with. Bella Hadid broke up with The

Weeknd in November

last year and then he started dating her friend

Selena Gomez. Drizzy and Weeknd are not only

from the same city, but they are also friends and

frequently perform on each other’s tours.

This is also some good promo for Drake who is

about to drop his new single which was inspired

by Louis Vuitton. The new track will be the first

since More Life and will arrive on Apple Music/

iTunes tonight.

Drake Affiliate 600Breezy Gets 10 Years In Prison

Drake affiliate rapper 600Breezy gets sentenced

to 10 years in prison for probation violation.

The rapper recently appeared on Drake’s hugely

successful More Life playlist which has the

second biggest debut so far this year only behind

Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. Back in 2012,

600Breezy was arrested and slapped with

charges of possession of cocaine. He was

placed on probation, but he violated the terms of

his probation when he traveled without

permission. Sounds like a classic case of

probation violation, just ask other rappers like

Meek Mill and Kodak Black.

was inappropriat

On the day of his sentencing, 600Breezy posted

a lengthy rant on his Facebook page about how

long the drive was to Iowa. “This long as drive

the Waterloo I’m about to walk in court on

straight a**hole mode,” he wrote. “Cause if I

been violating for traveling…that mean I’m

violating coming to court.. and the crazy part my

supervising p.o in Chicago didn’t violate me .

Iowa did….. After 5 years now Iowa wanna all of

a sudden step in.” His mother also confirmed

that he was given ten years. “Iowa just locked up

Antonio Valentino King for 10 yrs. This is the

worst birthday of my life,” she wrote.”

According to XXL, Drake is lending a helping

hand in trying to get 600Breezy released. “I

won’t let him sit,” the 6 God said. “We will do

everything we can.” An affiliate of 600Breezy

also revealed that the rapper might not have to

serve the full 10 years and could be released in

as little as a year.

600-breezy-IG-post

Kodak Black walked out of jail yesterday after

serving 30 days for probation violation, he was

originally sentenced to a year behind bars but

was given a second chance to prove himself by

enrolling in a life skills program in jail. He did

that and is now a free man.

Sean Paul Says Drake Not Giving Dancehall Enough Homage

Sean Paul is calling on Drake to give dancehall

and Jamaican culture more homage.

It’s no secret that Drake has taken such a liking

towards dancehall culture that he recorded an

entire album full of dancehall influenced singles.

The album Views was the biggest selling album

released by any artist last year and one of the

biggest in decades release by a rapper. Last

Year Sean Paul sound off on Drake saying that

not only he was not the best rapper, but he

doesn’t make good dancehall music.

At the time when it was popping off, it

would have been good for him to actually put

accolades towards the whole culture,” Sean Paul

said in an interview with Metro. “He’s friendly

with a few people in the business in Jamaica and

that’s good, I love it. But if he had given more

accolades when he was actually making it and

said “this is the music I love”, it would have

been cool.” Drake has developed a close

friendship with Popcaan. The two are so close

that some dancehall fans thinks they have a

bromance going on.

SP also distinguish between Drake and Ed

Sheeran who both released big dancehall hits.

“Ed Sheeran has done one song that is huge and

it’s dancehall reminiscent. But that is one song,

he [Drake] had an album full of dancehall so I

think he should have paid a bit of an accolade

and told people in the press that is where I’m

coming from, I have a love for that music,” the

dancehall deejay said.

Sean Paul is currently working on his new album

which will be the first under his new deal with

Island Music. The project should arrive later this

year, but so far SP has not give us a release

date.

Drake’s OVO Limited Edition Desert Clarks Shoe Now On Sale

Drake ‘s OVO brand recently inked a deal with

Clarks to launch a limited edition OVO Desert

boots.

The shoes are now on sale online on OVO

website and in select stores. So far we’ve seen

navy, black and sand suede but more colors

could be in the works depending on how

successful these limited edition boots are. The

desert boots from OVO and Clarks retail for a

whopping $375 USD. Sources inside OVO told

DjlytmasMusic that Drake fell in love with

Clarks when Popcaan gave him a pair as a gift,

the rest is history as they say.

shoes, particularly the desert boots have

been a staple in Jamaican fashion culture for

decades. World fashion magazines like GQ and

Vogue wrote that Clarks shoes are “irresistible to

the rudeboys of Kingston’s burgeoning concrete

jungle.” Reggae and Dancehall music also helped

the British shoe brand gained notoriety. Back in

2009, Vybz Kartel released a song with Popcaan

and Vanessa Bling titled “Clarks” which was a

massive hit worldwide. The song single handedly

drove Clarks sales to it’s highest in year slow PhotoGrid_1496202450260PhotoGrid_1496202353683
